3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Check-in and registration in the Fireside Lounge of the IDX Student Life Center, located on South Willard Street, Burlington, Vermont. (#11 on the map below)
Registration will include room assignment, student and parent information packets, a brief health status update, and GIV swag (t-shirt and water bottle). A deposit for the dorm key of $20.00 will be collected. This deposit will be returned on June 30th, when students return their room key. Students should also bring their signed student contract, after reviewing Setting Expectations and Student Contract with a parent/guardian.
Students will then be directed to the dorms to unload and unpack in their assigned room. Families can then depart.
At 4:15 p.m. students will gather in Alumni Auditorium (#27 on map) for our Opening Session and to begin our T/D adventure.
What To Bring:
*The air conditioned dorm rooms are double occupancy rooms, with an extra-long twin bed for each student.
- $20 room key deposit (returned to you at check out when your room key is returned to GIV)
- Signed Student Contract (please note: requires both student and parent/guardian signature after review of setting expectations)
- Linens are not provided by the dorm, so bring sheets/blankets/pillow and towels. (Extra-long sheets work best, but you can make do with regular ones)
- Bring anything you need for showering (and some type of footwear for the showers)
- Casual clothing: jeans, shorts and t-shirts are fine. Sweatshirt/layers are recommended for the labs. Shoes are required at all times; sandals are fine.
- Pajamas.
- Alarm clock (cell phone alarm is fine). You'll want something to wake you up!
- Personal devices: as a technology institute, you are welcome to bring your technology (phone/tablet/chromebook/laptop) with you. All technology required for classes will be provided.
- Raincoat/Umbrella
- Spending money -for extra snacks or trips to Burlington's Church Street shoppping area (optional)
- Laundry facilities are available in the dorm, if desired: Laundry detergent; Quarters (for coin operated washer/dryers )
- The dorm rooms only have overhead lights, you may want to consider bringing a small reading type light if you have one.
- Frisbees, soccer balls, games, art supplies, instruments- things to enjoy in your down time!
- Talent for Evening Variety Show -- Got Talent? Here's your chance to show it off! Bring your instrument/props/etc. to share! (optional)

There will be a dorm inspection at this time, keys will be collected and key deposits returned to students as they turn in their keys.
Students should be packed and loaded by 11:00 a.m. and join thw GIV community in Alumni auditorium
Required (and fun!) closing ceremony celebration and presentation is from 11:00 a.m. until approximately 1:00 p.m.
